Business Meeting Minutes
Shire of Druim
Doineann Business Meeting Minutes October 14, 2007 In attendance were Lord
Ulrick, Lady Lucrezia, Lord Cadfael, and Aedan.
Lord Ulrick opened
the meeting by thanking those who had turned in their Kingdom Quarterly
Reports and stated that the Shire Customaries had begun to be accumulated.
He stated many
people from other lands have come to call our shire home. This has been in
no small part due to our members. Many times he has observed the openness
of our shire, greeting a new face with the same affection and kindness as
a familiar one to share song, story, warmth, feast, and friendship. It has
been word of this openness that has traveled throughout the Kingdom and
has helped our shire grow.
It has been our
experienced members who have set the pace. Many times they have been the
pillars that support our group. Had it not been for their efforts, we
would not have come this far. While in most cases, we have looked to them
for help and guidance, I feel it only proper to continue to seek their
counsel as we move forward.
There have been some
customaries issued and we should establish more now, less we lose the
gains we have made in the past. In addition to these, let us add these…
- It has been our
custom that as a common courtesy, we provide to our experienced members
the first opportunity to positions within our group. This allows all of us
to benefit from that experience. If they decline the position, they should
also be invited to be an advisor.
- It has been our
custom that those with experience should continue to train new people as
to the best course to fulfilling their roles within our group.
While these are only
two items on what will be a much longer list, these are guidelines to
assist in solidifying the future of our Shire.
Customaries are not
rules; but, guidelines or traditions that enable us to learn from our own
history and experiences. They also assist to define the character and
reputation of our group.
Customaries do not
take precedence over Corpora or Kingdom Laws. They are shaped for the
Shire's particular needs.
Lord Ulrick then
asked Lady Branwen to take the plans for the shire trailer and retrieve
the quotes necessary for moving forward with the trailer.
Lord Cadfael agreed
to be the Chief Archer for the Shire.
Chronicler Lady
